OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....OOOOOverpriced for ice cream. Good looking gals in mini skirts and many many bluetooth wankers mentally playing themselves there with a lapdance, sorry I meant Laptopless.

Stopped in during the heat wave and got a small green tea yogurt with mango. The yogurt itself tasted kind of bland and pasty like green tea clay. It was also too creamy for my taste and wasn't very refreshing. The mango was the best part of the whole thing.

3.5 stars for the yogurt, 4 stars for the mango topping.

I've been meaning to review Red Mango for some time now but a recent visit after dinner at Nola's refreshed my memory.

I was disappointed that they only have two flavors: original or green tea. As for the original flavor, it was sweeter than I liked. I would have preferred a more tart flavor but in all fairness, it is called "original" and not "tart". The texture was on the creamier side but I didn't mind that too much.

The highlight was definitely the mango. It tasted super fresh and sweet, YUM!

As for cost, it's definitely on the pricier side for yogurt shops but I think you're also paying a premium on décor and ambiance.

I've heard this place comes close to the fro-yo spots in SoCal like Pinkberry & Yogurtland. I haven't tried those places, but I do know we've driven from Burlingame to Palo Alto at 11pm just for dessert. (closes at 12am on weekends) They have their regular signature flavor and green tea. The regular is my favorite - it has the right amount of tart & sweetness. The fruit toppings are always fresh & they pile it on! Seating is always available, with tables both inside and on the patio.

Most yogurt places are really by preference.  I always see different reviews for these types.  Either you really like it, or you don't.  If you like this type of yogurt more creamy, then you will love this place.  I think it complements the fruit toppings more when the taste and consistency is more creamy.  In my opinion, I would like a more tart taste to my yogurt which this just missed.

By the way. this place is packed!  Expect to wait in line for about 15mins to get your yogurt.  And the price is pretty standard at $4.20 for a small yogurt with two toppings.

It's time to right this wrong.  I've been trying to deny it, but I think I finally need to update this to a 5 star review.  If someone had never had tart froyo before, I'd bring them here.  In fact, I did just that last week and he loved it!  I think that cements Red Mango as the froyo of my eye.  Red mango's original is the only tart froyo that I can have (and would prefer to have) without any toppings.  GET IN MY TUMMY!

I've been going here consistently every week since a friend introduced me to this place.  Sometimes two or three times a week or day for that matter.  It takes me over two gallons of premium gas just to go from San Jose to Palo Alto, but my wife loves Red Mango.  Before Red Mango, I thought frozen yogurt was what you ate at the all you can eat buffets.

Red Mango only has two flavors for their yogurt, and it's not vanilla or chocolate.  It's original or green tea.  So far the only flavor I've had is original.  Their original reminds me of Vietnamese yogurt I grew up with, so that's my favorite, a plain blender with no toppings.  Blender you say...yes, I have not had their yogurt the way most people eat it.

I only get the large original blender with no toppings.  It is not even in their system, so they always look at me weird then go and ask someone else if it is possible to make.  Over the 40+ times we have been here, there has only been one time that the employees didn't do a double take when I placed my order.

Dislikes:
- Since the plain original blender with no toppings is not one of their usuals, it doesn't come out the same every time.  The ratio of the ingredients they use either makes it great or I end up with a stomach ache (I'm slightly lactose intolerant).
- Long drive to get there.

Likes:
- Best of the frozen yogurt places (even better then Pink Berries)
- I really like the taste of the original blender with no toppings, it reminds me of my youth.
- Friendly staff.

Overall:
I would recommend Red Mango for anyone that is a fan of frozen yogurt.  It's always best to try all the different ones out there to see which one you like best.  Red Mango is not for everyone, be so for it is the best one for my wife and I, and I'm not even a fan or frozen yogurt.  I'm still waiting for them to open one in the San Jose area...

Very yummy!

Quality frozen yogurt, fresh fruit toppings.  They also have green tea frozen yogurt, which I must try the next time.

Very cute indoor seating, and outdoor patio.

I had NO idea that Yul Kwon owned this joint until I saw some patrons gathering around him for a photo opp.  A fifth star for that!

So I checked out this place to see if it was better than Fraiche, which is a few blocks down from the place. eh, yeah, i didnt hate it, just nothing very impressive. I will agree that their bathroom is quite nice, but how sad is that? to say that the yogurt place should be known for their bathroom?

and for my first time experience.. let's just say that i was first in line, and  yet last to get my yogurt. hmm....don't know about you, but things like that annoy me. if you are at the front of the line, guess what, you should be the first to get it n'est ce pas?

and i like to get what i pay for. the serving compared to the pricing and the little teensy bits of sides that where "sprinkled," was not worth it.

This is my first foray into the yogurt revolution. Look out mouth, here comes some tart "frozen yogurt" (that isn't considered frozen yogurt according to the FDA's definition)!

Except it's not that tart. I had the small original with raspberries and Cap'n Crunch for $4.20. Or the way I define it "a small creamy yogurt thing with 5 raspberries and a 1/4 cup of Cap'n Crunch for a ridiculous amount of money." Is the rare yogurt-thing producing cow going extinct deep in the Amazon? No, I don't think so, but it seems like a lot of money to pay for so little yogurty goodness.

Even though the price is shocking to me, the service was pleasant, and the décor was fine. The yogurt was good, but not very tart. I think I'd like to try a tart yogurt before I take sides in the creamy vs tart debate. The Cap'n Crunch tasted really good with the yogurt and the raspberries didn't add anything at all. I also tried the green tea flavor, which was ok, but too subtle to make the cut in my order.

I may come back here, but only after acquiring a more sophisticated yogurt palate at other establishments.

This is the place where the frozen yogurt has the consistency of ice cream! YAY!!! Finally! A frozen yogurt that isn't icy and won't melt in ten seconds.

I asked for a sample of the green tea, but didn't like the flavor. The green tea wasn't powerful enough, so I opted for the small original with raspberry. The raspberry was tart, but at least the original yogurt wasn't tart!

I wish there was more than 2 flavors. I want some more creative.

Credit card accepted.

2 flavors, vanilla and green tea. Why are they both tart? So far the only place I know that sells good tasting green tea froyo well is the ice cream shop in Castro st. You can get it in waffle cones there too.

The decor here pretty much looks like any other Red Mango. I guess thats the problem when you are paying for a franchise, you're pretty limited on what you can use or else corporate will get on your back for doing stuff differently. If you want ambiance , go to Tartini in Cupertino. It's in front of a nice condo area with water fountains. Thats ambiance you cant get from Palo Alto.

My friends have never tried froyo before, yeah, I know, so when I saw that Connie C. was having Yelp Office Hours here, I decided to take them to get some froyo and see Connie (I really didn't have any questions for Connie).

Ah, I wasn't used to the whole..them doing the swirling, since I'm so used to me swirling and making a mochi tower.

The froyo is definitely tart and creamy, but I'm still a fan of Cafe Delatti.

After dinner my friend said, 'Hey Anna, could we go back to Red Mango again?  I want to get one to eat on the car.'

Ohgreat, I've created froyo monsters!

Red mango wa good, but I wasn't overly impressed. Two flavors of froyo and they are both tart tasting. There were also lots of toppings but the high school guy working the counter couldn't even keep it clean, it looked like someone spilled the jimmy candies in the gummy bears and some of the rasberries were in the peaches, etc. I didn't see more than 5 customers in the whole place so its not like there wasn't time to keep it clean...

Yogurt frenzy dead smack in the middle of University Ave? Gold mine! Good location if you're strolling around but bad if you're trying to find parking.

I'm not BIG on froyo but I do know what tastes good and what doesn't. And Red Mango tastes GOOT! $5 for the girlfriend and I to split a quick snack isn't bad. Nice ambiance inside. Kind of reminds me of an art museum. LOL. Fresh toppings are A+. Thanks Red Mango for being a bit too far from my house or else I'd move my cardboard box home in front of your store.

Seating inside kind of sucks so just grab your froyo on the go.

This place is delicious! The setting here is cute and trendy and it's very clean! I got the original frozen yogurt . . . small size . . . topped with blueberries. It was delicious and filling; very tarty if you like that type of yogurt. I would compare it to Pinkberry. Total was about $4.

I kind of like Yogurtland better though since it's cheaper and they have more flavors. :)

Best. Frozen. Yogurt. Ever.

I stopped eating frozen yogurt sometime in the 90s, after 10 years of working, serving, and occasionally having frozen yogurt. It was always so sweet yet with a nasty aftertaste. I would rather have ice cream, and did.
Then a friend brought me here after dinner. Fantastic! It tastes like yogurt and not sweet fruity crud. Yeah, it's a little sour, it's yogurt. The small plain with berries is heaven. (No green tea flavor for me, don't like it).

I love love love the original tart from Red Mango. Yes yes, it's expensive. Yes yes, you can't control the amount of toppings you get, but damn I really enjoy the original tart. Personally I don't get any toppings, because I like to enjoy the flavor of the yogurt :D

Dude, sadly even if Red Mango was hella hella more expensive I think I'd still pay for it because thats how much I like it LOL (sad.)

Two weeks in Palo Alto, I thought: What will I ever do without my Pinkberry in LA or Berryline in Boston? But then! We see this! And it's just exactly the same, isn't it amazing how this stuff caught on? Anyway, I was happy to see it. Good original flavor yogurt, ok decor, I thought the chocolate chips were a little too tiny for me and I wish they wouldn't make the yogurt into a long skinny tower in your cup - it makes it hard to eat sometimes :(

Really good, more creamy and rich, less tart than pinkberry.  To me, it basically tasted like a mix of frozen yogurt and pinkberry... and therefore somewhat less healthy (i don't know if it's actually less healthy, just tasted less healthy).  All in all, the best frozen yogurt I've had.

After having this place bookmarked for so long, I've finally had a taste of Red Mango!

First off, parking and driving in this area is a little crazy... so if driving in narrow busy places makes you a little nervous like me, have someone drive for you.

Onto the actual shop... The inside was very chic looking, clean and overall a nice place to chit chat over yogurt, but you might want to bring a jacket or sweater! The yogurt was good and definitely more creamy than other places. It was nice that the nutrition facts were displayed on the tables and nice to know that this frozen yogurt is actual yogurt with live yogurt bacteria haha. However, between Pinkberry and Red Mango, I like Pinkberry better because it's a little more tart.

Also, I have to note that the "small" here is really small-- relatively. The amount you get for a medium is like a small at other places for the same price.

So while Red Mango is good, it's a bit far for me, but I'm not too sad about it.

Red Mango serves huge swirls of yogurt. They only have 2 flavors, green tea and plain. Both are good. The green tea flavor is more expensive than plain which is very weird pricing scheme. I thought the yogurt tasted artificial and too airy. The toppings were good. I would recommend fraiche if you are in palo alto over red mango.

The price at Red Mango is high.

The main reason I avoid this place (besides that I like fraiche better) is that it is a total scene. It is packed with everyone from pre-teen girls, to high-schoolers to yuppy palo alto families out for their after dinner dessert. You will always have to wait in line and you probably won't be able to find a place to sit.

My guess is this place will be gone in 5 years.

This is probably the best frozen yogurt in the bay!  I like how their frozen yogurt is very creamy and doesn't melt that quickly.  I also love their green tea flavor! But my friends like the original better... Their fruit toppings are also very fresh.

The environment is also very cute.  I enjoy sitting outside on a nice afternoon, watching people walk by and pigging out on my FroYo... yums!

Though I've only heard of the place and seen it's reviews I was fortunate enough to try it out with my best friends.

A bit pricey, especially since we've all gotten used to Yogurtland's prices. We decided on a Small, Original with Golden Grahams and mango pieces.
I was quite hesitant when we ordered, but found that it was very enjoyable.
The froyo was not too sour nor too sweet, it was creamy and just right! The Golden Grahams just added more to it's deliciousness, even though the mango was a bit of a setback. It was really good!

The place is a bit small for my taste and didn't seem to have many seating arrangements that would fit a handful of people. While eating our dessert I noticed it also seemed cramped.

Don't forget this isn't any ordinary self-serve froyo place, all is weighed out and topped over for you. So if you want to be captain of your fruit to yogurt ratio hit up another place.

Here we go again, yet another Frozen Yogurt place. Note that this place isn't a self serve, like Yogurtland.

Anyhow, I love this place because the frozen yogurt is on the creamy side. The texture is just different from everywhere else that you go. Not to mention, the people working there make sure your cup if completely filled over the brim with the toppings you choose. This makes me a happy customer! My only complaint is that there isn't much seating, but oh well, I can live with that.

Okay, so kind of repetitive but the only reason red mango in this location intrigued me was that a survivor winner owns the place?? Haha, I was not fortunate enough to see him...oh well.

I came here a couple weeks ago after lunch on university ave. And decided to stroll around and have red mango for dessert. Interior is nice, very much identical to all other locations. I used to be a fan of chains such as pinkberry and red mango, until I realized the price was not worth it. I really liked the heaviness/creaminess of their yogurt, but now I prefer my tart yogurt to actually be tart and refreshingly icy. Red mango's tart flavor is hardly tart and tastes almost like soft serve icecream. It makes me feel guilty on the contrary to it's "non-fat guilt free indulgence" reputation.

AND! Red mango doesn't have a mango flavor?? Huh? They only have original tart and green tea. I paid like 4.50 for a small with strawberries and mango. My portion was pretty good, but boy do I feel sorry the for one's who got blueberries and blackberries. You pay the same price but you get like 3 berries.

Other than nice interior, red mango is all hype!

Whooptie whoopitie doo.
Sour froyo has made it to Palo Alto.

The space is hip and cool, as expected.
But this Sour Frozen Yogurt Craze has my mind reeling..... I'm not *that* psyched about their yogurt.

For the calories, I'd head to that cake shop, instead.
Or, better yet, that Deep Dish Pizza Place down the street, Paxti's.

$5 gets you a small bowl with a TEENY scoop of ITSY BITSY pieces of strawberry bits.
again, whooptie  whooptie doo.

Can you say in love? Some believe in love at first sight, but with food, its love at first bite. And that is exactly what red mango did to me. It keeps me mesmerized until i have it again which means when i'm not having it, i'm shaking and fiending for it like a crackhead. I think about having it after almost every meal...

Forget the toppings, the yogurt is delicious on it's own. Perfect texture, not frozen like an icey but creamy. I usually have the mochi and cap'n crunch as my toppings. The mochi are like pillows in my mouth, ouweee. The yogurt also has a perfect level of tart. Please know that this ain't no Yoplait yogurt. This is the real deal so don't come here thinking you're gonna have some yoplait, if you want that, grab a 30 pack at safeway and stay your ass at home.

I have had some other fro-yo spots and none of them compare. I always compare them to Red Mango and they never come close. Red Mango has no competition! They're killin it!

O Yeah, I hear that the owner is the winner of the survivor, not like i would be star struck if i saw him because i'm a celebrity myself but i just thought i would let my fellow yelpers know.

When I first tried froyo, I wasn't sure that I would ever truly acquire the taste to really like it.  However, Pinkberry changed that for me... but since there is no Pinkberry in the Bay Area, I needed to find a place for my froyo fix and Red Mango is the place.  They only have green tea and original but for me that is all I need.  They also have a good variety of fresh fruits, and assorted other toppings.  The only drawback is they do not have enough tables and chairs to accommodate all their customers.

Came back here today for the third time to show some friends that Red Mango's yogurt is better then most of the froYo spots out there. A couple of friends only tried Yoswirl in Fremont and they said that was good, until they had Red Mango. They were shocked on how different it was and how good it was. Closest you can get to Pinkberry without having Pinkberry.

I had the small original with crushed graham crackers. On a hot summer day it made my day. Eating it outside and watching all the people walk down University. Very Nice!

Red Mango is sooooo good, folks. I've only had it twice but I'm positive it's the best frozen yogurt (tart flavor, that is) I've had since my nearly orgasmic Pink Berry experience over a year ago. The line is always ridiculously long, but absolutely worth the wait. The ingredients are actually fresh - do you notice some froyo places leave their diced fruit so long it turns mushy and gross?

Check it out.

The World According to Noelle
~Allergic Girl's Guide to Life~
Issue 119

There's no combination of words
I could put on the back of a postcard
No song that I could sing
But I can try for your heart,
our dreams, and they are made out of real things
like a shoebox of photographs
with sepia-toned loving
Love is the answer
at least for most of the questions in my heart, like
Why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy and
sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing, it's always better when we're together

Mmmm, It's always better when we're together
Yeah we'll look at the stars and we're together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah it's always better when we're together

Good friends & Fro-Yo are always better together. This was our first trip to Red Mango. They offer two flavors: Original & Green Tea. The staff is friendly, helpful. Ambiance is fun, hip and the Fro-Yo is yum to the oooh! I had the Green Tea with Mochi Balls. It was creamy, light touch of sweetness and just heavenly. I LOVE how they put a sticker with your name on your order- too cute = )

Randy and I sat outside. It was a nice summer evening. Family, friends and couples were coming in and out of Red Mango. Even a cyclist stopped and got an order of Fro-Yo. The cyclist sat at a table near Randy and I, he was even nice enough to snap a photo of us. Red Mango is a WINNER in my book, yum to the ohhhh and friendly to Noe's allergies.

Noelle's  Notes:
Already have RM Fro-Yo dates planned with different people:
Mom, Sis, Momo, you?

Noelle's Post Secret:
If you want a refreshing end to a nice evening in Palo Alto- Red Mango is your place!
